Macau is a Mediterranean-like city in the coast of China also known as the “Las Vegas of the East.”  However, there is definitely more to Macau than its prosperous gaming industry. Portugal, being Macau’s past colonial ruler, has the strongest influence in the city and is responsible for the grandiose baroque architectures recognised by UNESCO as the Historic Centre of Macau World Heritage Site.

Experience how the fusion of Asian, Western, and Mediterranean makes Macau so much fun with our Macau Tour Package.

Macau is officially a territory under Portuguese administration. Potuguese and Chinese are the two official languages, with Cantonese the most widely spoken. English is Macau's third language and is generally used in trade, tourism and commerce.

Macau can be reached by air travel (from various countries) and sea travel from Hong Kong.
Macau Peninsula -
The northernmost region connected to the Chinese mainland. It is the center of most tourist activity and is densely crowded.

A large section of Macau Peninsula has been designated a Unesco World Heritage site and 25 buildings and sites within the area have been deemed to have cultural and historic significance.

Taipa -
The island south of the peninsula, accessible via three bridges. It is a major residential center and is the location of Macau's International Airport.

Cotai -
A strip of reclaimed land between Coloane and Taipa, with vast new casinos rising up (such as The Venetian, thelargest casino in the world)

Casinos –
Gambling is Macau's biggest industry.
Famous landmark is Casino Lisboa. New casinos Wynn Macau and Sands Macau.

The Cotai Strip is being made into "The Las Vegas Strip of the East" with the biggest casino in the world, Venetian Macao and the not-much-smaller City of Dreams with many more still to come. Casinos on Taipa includes the Crown Macau.

Macau is famous for excellent restaurants, unique cuisine and mellow bars. Above all, the city is famous for twocuisines: Portuguese and Macanese.

When visiting Chinese temples basic respect should be shown, but taking photos is usually allowed and you don't need to ask for permission as long as there isn't a no-photography sign posted.
